RNA interference therapeutics, shortcomings and futures
The exploration of RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutics represents a promising avenue in medical research, aiming to selectively regulate gene expression for the treatment of various diseases. However, the field faces several challenges. Delivery mechanisms for small interfering RNA (siRNA) face hurdles in terms of stability, specificity, and efficient targeting. Off-target effects and potential immunogenicity also present concerns. Overcoming these shortcomings requires advancements in delivery technologies and a deeper understanding of RNAi mechanisms. The future of RNA interference therapeutics lies in refining delivery systems, enhancing target specificity, and addressing safety concerns.
